oh sync me up
and plug me in
connect me in
with all of my sin
upload me
download me
put the currents right through me
till my sinews are synged
and my body is torn
and oh my lord I’ve been reborn

POST.HUMAN is a fully devised new theatre production and the founding project of JEDERMANN THEATRE COMPANY, a collaboration between German theatre director Martin Oelbermann (Berlin, Düsseldorf, Hamburg, Graz, Main, Vienna, London) and Verity Kirk, Cassie Layton, Ella Prince, Ingrid Schiller, William Alexander, Freddie Stewart and Parth Thakerar, all 2013 graduates from the ROYAL ACADEMY OF DRAMATIC ART. Many other graduates from that year haven taken part in exploratory workshops, created characters, written scenes, speeches and songs. Thank you very much to all of them! After two devising projects at RADA, one based on EVERYMAN by Hugo von Hofmannsthal and one based on PETER PAN by J.M. Barrie, we want to continue this type of work: devised music theatre that explores all aspects of human experience and of the performing and visual arts: a total theatre that speaks to everyone – JEDERMANN.

POST.HUMAN at the RADA Festival is the first showing of this production. We now want to develop it further and present it in a longer run. The theme of how technology and science are radically transforming what it means to be human, affects everyone. Undoubtedly, biology is merging more and more with electronics and soon we will have to negotiate co-existing with machines which might be indistinguishable from us, yet greatly advanced. How will we treat our creations? Will we be kinder than Dr. Frankenstein and accept their feelings, their particular needs, dreams and hopes? Will we try to enslave them to live a life of even greater luxury and pleasure or will we simply grow extinct, incapable of adapting to a changing world and follow the fate of the dinosaurs? As our machines acquire godlike powers, why is there still so much suffering in the world? Can we create a paradise for all, if we just hand over the running of the world to the right algorithm? POST.HUMAN explores ways of expressing the hopes and the fears when faced with the digital revolution.

We are looking for partners, supporters and producers on this exciting journey into the unknown! If you are interested in our work, please do not hesitate to contact us! www.theatrewebsite.wordpress.com
